India Delhi records wettest September as rain breaks record of 121 yrs

  Total rainfall in the national capital this season has been 1,136.8 mm at the Safdarjung observatory New Delhi:  With 380.2 mm of rainfall from September 1 till Saturday afternoon, Delhi recorded its second highest downpour in 121 years and highest after 1944, making it the wettest September in over a century. "380.2 mm in September 2021 so far is second highest in 121 years and highest after 1944, in last 77 years for the month of September only," data from Safadrjung Observatory shared by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said. Top five highest rainfall The top five highest rainfall for the month of September in total include -- "417.3 mm, 380.2 mm, 360.9 mm, 359.2 mm and 341.9 mm in 1944, 2021, 1914, 1945 and 1933 respectively," IMD said. Total rainfall in the national capital this season has been 1,136.8 mm at the Safdarjung observatory. Delhi had recorded 1,420.3 mm of rainfall in 1933. Jammu becomes first district in J&K to register over 1,000 Covid-related deaths

  JAMMU:  Worst hit by the second wave of COVID-19, the winter capital Jammu on Wednesday became the first district in Jammu and Kashmir to register over 1,000 deaths linked to the pandemic since its outbreak last year. Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded 3,037 fresh COVID-19 cases that took its tally to 2,78,859 while 40 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 3,702, according to an official bulletin. Jammu replaced Srinagar at the top of the Covid fatality chart among the 20 districts early this month, prompting the central government to rush a team of doctors to look into the alarming trend of high mortality among the positive patients in the province.  Jammu district is also heading the chart with 6,929 active cases in the union territory against 5,895 in summer capital Srinagar till Wednesday evening.  BUNJWAH :- The RDD Block Bunjwah is lying defunct since from years together beside few weeks ago it was made functional after the issue was raised in media and brought into the notice of District Administration.  After weeks together the office again remain closed during office hours and today BDC Chairperson Bunjwah Choudhary Maryam found the office locked and no employee was present there.   Sadam Hussain a resident of faroff region Kither said that i several times visited office but found closed and no one employee was found there. Maharashtra Becomes The First State To Ban Loose Cigarettes

  The State Health Department of Maharashtra issued a public notification banning the sale of ‘loose’ or unpacked  cigarettes and beedis , making it the first state to do so. This is in accordance with the subsection (2) of section 7 of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (Act No. 34 of 2003) which mandates a public health warning on all cigarette and tobacco boxes. Loose cigarettes and beedis do not have descriptive warnings on them and hence, do not meet this criterion. Consumers will now have to buy the whole  box . The step has been taken to discourage young adults and teens from smoking as they may not have the financial capability to buy entire boxes. This will also ensure that each item is taxed which cannot be ensured with the sale of loose  cigarettes . The Cyclonic Storm ‘NISARGA’ over Eastcentral Arabian Sea moved northwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past 06 hours, and lay centred at 1430 hours IST of today, the 02nd June, 2020 over Eastcentral Arabian Sea near latitude 16.0°N and longitude 71.2°E, about 290 km west-northwest of Panjim (Goa), 380 km south-southwest of Mumbai (Maharashtra) and 600 km south-southwest of Surat (Gujarat). It is very likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours.
